Looking Back at 2007 in Delaware County
| Another year has flown by. All of the activity we enjoy at this time of year keeps us looking forward, but we have just as many reasons to look back and take pride in the great things we’ve accomplished.Governor Daniels and I have made Indiana’s economic development our primary focus since we assumed office. In Delaware County, the evidence of that focus has been easy to see, thanks to the incredible partners we have in your local leaders. Thanks to your hard work and partnership with state government, we’re making progress for all Hoosiers. |

Lt. Governor Skillman greets members of the I have visited Delaware County six times since the Governor and I assumed office. This year, my most memorable trip included a lunchtime speech to the Muncie Young Professionals. They were an inspiring group, focused on the great potential in and around Muncie. They share a vision of prosperity and growth I know many of you have for all of Delaware County.New jobs and investments poured into Delaware County in 2007. Miasa Automotive LLC and Hearthmark, LLC are investing invested millions this year and adding more than 50 new jobs, and IBM is continuing the significant investment it made last year, hiring 850 new workers. |

And business wasn’t the only investor in Delaware County Communities. More than $5 million dollars for planning grants, Housing Finance, Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits, Individual Development Accounts, weatherization, energy grants, and recycling grants were issued from the Lt. Governor’s agencies alone. All of these grants are in addition to any economic development incentives, and they are all competitive. I applaud your community leaders for making a great case for these dollars.Good things are happening all over the state. Delaware County is no exception, thanks to the good people here who care about their communities. 2007 was a banner year, and Governor Daniels and I are looking ahead to an even better 2008. |
