Election Platform
At the organization’s annual meeting on July 18, 2008 members will be given the opportunity to present a platform in three to five (3-5) minutes which explains his or her desire to serve in elected office.
A deadline for submitting platforms has been set by the Steering Committee in advance of the annual meeting. Platforms should be submitted to muncieypg@gmail.com by July 16, 2008 at 5pm.
Paper ballots will be distributed at the annual meeting to any member of MYPG who chooses to vote. Votes will be cast in secret but members will be verified for eligibility based on their status on the membership list.
Electronic voting will be held for one (1) week following the election at the annual meeting. All of the candidates’ platform materials will be available on the website for viewing.
Platform presentations (in print and verbal) should include the following:

· Hometown, number of years in Muncie/Delaware County
· Experience serving in the community
· MYPG elected position you are seeking
· A statement about why you feel MYPG is important
· Activities or responsibilities you’ve fulfilled in MYPG
· A brief statement of vision for where the group should go and how it might get there (action steps)
· Skills and steps you will use in elected office to help group attain the vision you present

MYPG Steering Committee
General Chair (candidate must have one year of active involvement with MYPG)
· Facilitates meetings and sets agenda
· Holds general and active management of the business of MYPG and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Steering Committee are carried into effect
· Leads annual budget planning and fund requests
· Develops and implements, with the group, an outreach plan for local businesses
Past General Chair (not elected)
· Assists the Steering Committee in making a successful transition
· Works with General Chair to plan for and solicit sponsors, donations, and grants for the organization
· Guides strategic planning and implementation for the organization
· Chairs the nomination and election process
· Serves as the organization’s treasurer
Marketing Chair
· Develops strategies for marketing the organization
· Distributes MYPG event information and news releases to media contacts
· Works with Membership & Communications Chair to maintain the “look” of the organization
· Works with a team, if needed, to design, edit, and create external marketing pieces
· Researches and orders branded promotional materials
· Maintains accounts on social networking sites
Records Chair
· Maintains event attendance records and program evaluations
· Records, compiles, and disseminates (electronically) meeting minutes to Steering Committee
· Coordinates with steering committee and members to compile newsletter content
· Gathers and compiles historical data (news clippings, photographs, digital media)
· Works with General Chair to provide necessary documents and calendar information for Steering Committee meetings (including master calendar of events, meeting minutes, etc.)
· Coordinates photography at events and posts photos on MYPG Flikr account
Membership & Communications Chair
· Maintains muncieypg@gmail.com and correspondence
· Communicates MYPG news and information to members through e-marketing platform
· Designs marketing pieces and newsletter for electronic distribution
· Updates website and online Google calendar as needed
· Acts as liaison with Web site vendor
· Researches new technology needs and initiatives
Social and Volunteerism Chair
· Develops regular social and volunteer activities
· Promotes involvement in social and volunteer opportunities throughout the community
· Solicits sponsorships and prize donations for events when necessary
· Recruits and leads a committee to help plan and implement activities
Professional Development Chair
· Develops regular professional development activities, including the Leadership Lunch series
· Promotes involvement in professional development opportunities throughout the community
· Solicits sponsorships and prize donations for events when necessary
· Recruits and leads a committee to help plan and implement activities
Ex-officio positions deemed appropriate by the Steering Committee may be created and appointed.
