RibFest Needs MYPG Volunteers!

RibFest: Saturday, August 7, 2-4pm or 4-6 pm

MYPG will be manning 2 gates at RibFest — taking money, stamping hands, answering questions (an FAQ sheet will be provided).
It’ll be a 2-hour shift with another MYPG’er at the same gate.  We need a total of 8 volunteers, but will definitely take more if there
is interest.

Please RSVP to Sharm at: SMKnecht@gmail.com and you will also receive free admission (normally $5) for their volunteer work.
Saturday RibFest runs noon to 10 pm with live bands on three stages until 5pm.

What if you had $10 and a ton of bills to pay?

Spend 2 ½ hours role-playing the life of someone living in poverty and find out. Can you win the game? Is it really a game? Do people we serve every day really experience this kind of chaos and frustration?

Be part of the simulation sponsored by Delaware County and the City of Muncie, funded by grants from the Ball Brothers Foundation and the Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County. This event will be one of 50 simulations that have already reached more than 3,500 Muncie residents.

What:
Poverty Simulation

When:
Wednesday, November 18 from 4-6:30 p.m.

Where:
Memorial Building – Delaware County Fairgrounds

You must RSVP to TEAMwork for Quality Living for you and anyone you are bringing with you. Please call 747-7158 or email jim@teamworkql.org by Wednesday morning (Nov. 18) at 9 a.m. Don’t be late as positions fill up fast and people have to be turned away!

XFC (Extreme Flight Championships) Summer Heat Volunteer Opportunity

This is an opportunity for those who are interested in volunteering while watching model helicopters and airplanes in extreme flight maneuvers. The Academy of Model Aeronautics (5161 E. Memorial Drive) is in need of volunteers to help with traffic control at the XFC (Extreme Flight Championships)/Summer Heat combined event. These people will be directing traffic into parking lots next to the flying fields.

Shifts are three hours or longer, anytime between 7am and 8pm on Friday, 7am and 8pm on Saturday, and 7am and 2pm Sunday. Volunteers are needed most on Saturday and Sunday.

What to wear/bring: Depending on the weather, wear clothes that are comfortable and in good condition. Shorts, t-shirts, hats for those who are concerned about sunburns, sunglasses, and tennis shoes are good picks. Sunscreen is advisable. Bring your own lawn chair for times down times. Ice-cold water will be provided and shaded areas will be available for breaks.

If you are interested in this volunteering opportunity, please contact Jackie Shalberg, AMA Archivist/Asst. Historian, at 765-287-1256 ext. 511 or jackies@modelaircraft.org, for more information and for scheduling your shift(s).
