Our place at the [civic] table

By admin | January 7, 2008

Did you see the article in Sunday’s edition of the Star Press about leadership deficits facing our community? Did you think “someone should do something about that!”? Have you ever consider that the “someone” might be you?

Our city needs talented individuals (like MYPG members) who are willing to give time and talent in helping to make our city better. This isn’t political - it’s service. Please take a moment and consider if you can serve our community on a board or commission. A list of the boards and commissions are available on the Muncie Web site at http://cityofmuncie.com/index/residents/boardsandcommissions.asp.

How to apply:

  1. Write a cover letter, explaining how your experience might make you a good fit on a specific board or commission.
  2. Send that letter with your current resume to Phyllis Amburn, the chair of Mayor McShurley’s transition team, at depmayor@cityofmuncie.com.

Consider sending this information in as soon as possible for consideration.

I am so glad to see the outreach at so many levels. I have applied for the position of Supt. of Beech Grove Cemetery. I have felt the glass ceiling in the cemetery business for far too long. This is just a word of HURRAH!!
